St Lucia Investment Market
Money is being invested on the island of St Lucia. Down between the famous Pitons, you’ll find super luxurious resorts and developments at the centre of this big investment splurge. Thus creating a cosmopolitan atmosphere, whilst keeping the charm of a small Caribbean island.
Elsewhere in the Caribbean an expensive revamp may not be big news but on St Lucia it signals an exciting new direction for tourism and investment. The lush West Indian island has always done well with British travellers but traditionally lacked something at the top end of its hotel market — something that’s changing fast with a rash of new hotels and rooms costing upwards of £500 per night.
Visitors from the UK were up by 30 per cent in the first quarter of 2012 alone and the recent addition of first-class cabins to the British Airways fleet serving St Lucia suggests a significant percentage of this market is highly affluent.
Though St Lucia has, for a long time, been a favourite holiday destination for Brits and Americans, it has only recently appeared on the international property map. Over the last few years St Lucian real estate has fast become a market that investors would do well to consider.
The investment market for property in St Lucia is a young and dynamic one – up until a couple of years ago, there really was little development on the island. Still now, people buying in St Lucia are unlikely to be purchasing purely for investment reasons but lifestyle ones, too, seeking out a slice of the exotic for themselves.
